How to get a Google review link for your business

Insights Reviews 3 min read

To get a Google review link, open your Business Profile while signed in as the owner, select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, and copy the link Google gives you. That link opens the review box for your business directly, so a customer does not have to search for you first.

One link, pasted once, used everywhere you finish a job.

The steps, from Google's help page

  1. Go to your Business Profile. The quickest way is to search for your business name on Google while signed in with the account that manages it.
  2. Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews.
  3. To copy the link, select Copy. To save the QR code, right-click it and choose Save image as.

Google notes that review QR codes can only be generated on a computer browser, not on a phone. Its full instructions are on Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews.

Test it before you send it to anyone

Open the link in a private or incognito window, and once on a phone that is not yours. It should open your business with the review box ready. If it opens a search page or a different listing, you copied the wrong thing.

Then save it somewhere the whole team can find it. The link is only useful if the person sending the thank-you text can paste it without asking around.

Where to use it

Google suggests receipts, thank-you emails, the end of a chat conversation and a printed QR code in your store. For a service business that usually means:

  • The text or email you send after each job. This is where most reviews come from. Wording is in how to ask customers for reviews.
  • Your invoice or receipt, as a line near the total.
  • A QR card at the front desk, or left with the paperwork after a service call.
  • Your email signature, for the customers who reply to you directly.

Wherever you use it, ask everyone rather than only the customers you expect to be pleased. Sending the link only to happy customers is review gating, which Google's policy does not allow.

Customers need a Google account

Anyone leaving a review has to be signed in to a Google account. Google's help page points out that customers can create one with a non-Gmail email address, which is worth knowing when someone says they cannot leave a review because they "don't use Google".

Paste it once and stop thinking about it

If you use our Google review management service, this link is the one thing we need from you. You paste it once during setup, we walk you through finding it if you get stuck, and it goes out after every finished job from then on. The rest of the routine is in how to get more Google reviews.

Ask every customer without having to remember

The Reviews plan sends the ask a few hours after each finished job, by text or email, and gives every customer the same link to Google. $197 a month, no contract, and most businesses are live in three to seven days.

Related questions

Do I need a review link generator?
No. Google gives every verified Business Profile its own review link and QR code for free. A third-party generator produces the same kind of link.
Why can't I find the Get more reviews option?
Usually because you are signed in with a Google account that is not an owner or manager of the profile, or the profile is not verified yet. Sign in with the account that manages the profile and try again.
Can I get the QR code on my phone?
Google's help page says review QR codes can currently only be generated in a computer browser. The link itself can be shared from anywhere once you have copied it.
Does the link ever change?
Keep a copy and test it now and then, especially after you change your business name or address. If it stops opening your review box, get a fresh one from the same place.
